Definition 

Job application letter is a letter made by a job applicant for a certain position for acceptance in an agency. In writing a job application letter, it is not always based on one format. But there are many formats or versions that can be used according to the needs of job applicants.

Function Application Letter

   In addition to working as a communication tool with job applicants, job application letters also work as an initial assessment tool whether they are suitable to be placed in the chosen position or included in the application letter or not.


Language structure
  • Title: the name of company or type of job vacancy
  • Purpose: the purpose of announcing a job vacancy
  • Qualification: the qualifications or requirements the company wants toward the job seekers
  • Address/contact: address or contact number to find out more information or to send the job application. 

What to include in your letter 
As with all cover letters, a job application letter is devided into sections
  • Heading
  • Greeting
  • Introduction
  • Body
  • Signature to end the letter 


Parts of the Application Letter

There are generally 3 parts to a job application letter. Here's the explanation:

  • Greetings (opening)

  •  Paragraph Body (content)

  •  Cover (cover)

R. A. Kartini  Raden Adjeng Kartini opened the first Indonesian primary school for native girls that did not discriminate based on social standing in 1903. She corresponded with Dutch colonial officials to further the cause of Javanese women's emancipation up until her death, on September 17, 1904, in Rembang Regency, Java. In 1911, her letters were published. Early Years Kartini was born to a noble family on April 21, 1879, in the village of Mayong, Java, Indonesia. Kartini's mother, Ngasirah, was the daughter of a religious scholar. Her father, Sosroningrat, was a Javanese aristocrat working for the Dutch colonial government. This afforded Kartini the opportunity to go to a Dutch school, at the age of 6. The school opened her eyes to Western ideals. During this time, Kartini also took sewing lessons from another regent's wife, Mrs. Marie Ovink-Soer.
