Definition

Caption Text is a short description that completes an image, graphic, poster, or table. 


Caption Text Function 

Caption text is useful for providing understanding or emphasis on the image given so that those who see it can know what our intent and purpose is to make the image. 

 Characteristics of caption text 

  • Short 
  • Free to use any tenses 
  • No name unless required 
  • Can contain motivation, stories, advice and others 


Text Structure 

Can be : 

  • Action/event/activity 
  • People/things that are involved 
  • Condition 


Language Features 

  • Noun Phrase for a thing, a person, an animal, a location, etc. which is focused on, with or without a, the, this, tohes, my, their, etc. 
  • Verb Phrase dealing picture/photograph/graph/chart 
  • Spelling, punctuation, and handwriting 


Tips To Write Captions :

  • Do not begin with the words a, an or the
  • Use present tense to describe action in photo
  • Give readers information they cannot get from just looking at a photo
  • A caption should complete the photo. The reader should not have to look at the story but should want to look at the story
  • Write captions so they go from spesific to general or general to spesific
  • Do not begin a caption with names
  • When identifying members of a group, write "from left" not "form left to right"
  • "Above" and "picture here" are unnecessary
  • Captions should no repeat information contained in the lead
  • Name people only if they are important to the picture

  CONCLUSION Exposition text is a series of sentences that aim to explain an idea from one point of view to the reader. If you translate the word "exposition" itself, you will get the word exposition or description. So, this text is indeed used to describe a subject or topic. R. A. Kartini  Raden Adjeng Kartini opened the first Indonesian primary school for native girls that did not discriminate based on social standing in 1903. She corresponded with Dutch colonial officials to further the cause of Javanese women's emancipation up until her death, on September 17, 1904, in Rembang Regency, Java. In 1911, her letters were published. Early Years Kartini was born to a noble family on April 21, 1879, in the village of Mayong, Java, Indonesia. Kartini's mother, Ngasirah, was the daughter of a religious scholar. Her father, Sosroningrat, was a Javanese aristocrat working for the Dutch colonial government. This afforded Kartini the opportunity to go to a Dutch school, at the age of 6. The school opened her eyes to Western ideals. During this time, Kartini also took sewing lessons from another regent's wife, Mrs. Marie Ovink-Soer. Ovink-Soer imparted her feminist views to Kartini, and was therefore instrumental in planting the seed for Kartini's lat...
